New message from Ed Tatum / Noch eine Nachricht von Ed Tatum:
We were told that the family originated in the Bavarian Pfalz and intended to emigrate in the 1700s, during what Americans know as the great "Palatine Immigration," but that by the time they had sailed up the Rhein, Rotterdam and London had decided to close the borders.  So the Wullenwabers were stranded near the Dutch border, because they could not afford to pay the tolls on the return trip.  They appealed to the Königin Louise and were able to stay where they were, naming one town Louisendorf after the queen and another Pfalzdorf after their home in the Bavarian Pfalz.
